Had a general cleanup inside (carpet needs a good seeing to) and took the front seats out to swap them over. It was clear that someone has had them out at some point as half the bolts were loose, one bolt is snapped and the belt hooks into the B pillar were loose.

At that point it seemed like a good time to take the carpet / underlay out and make sure that it wasn’t hiding anything rotten – pretty decent to be honest, couple of very minor bits – around the passenger side seat rear bolt and on the drivers side where the floor meets the sill area, very minor really.

Gave the seats a quick wet vac, being reasonably carful as the fabric is essentially only glued to the foam and stripped the subframes from the seats.

With the subframes out, I will strip, clean and get them re-powder coated – along with the subframe to floor hats and belt retaining hooks. They’re that bad condition but as they are out…. seat bases need a good clean as well!

My shed doesn’t have the wiring for seat belt pre-tensioners so will swap the buckles of the old subframes. Anyway, lets be honest – can’t imagine them working after 30 years if they were triggered.
